This innovative and growing organisation are looking for an Head Of Cloud Operations,
Reporting to the Chief Transformation Officer, the Head of Cloud Operations is charged with instantiating a new paradigm for designing, deploying and supporting cloud infrastructure services that underlie the company's products portfolio.
While the person’s technical capabilities are extremely important, the ideal candidate must have an “emotional quotient” commensurate with the requirement to effectively manage tremendous change at all levels of the organisation and cultivate an environment of trust.
The specific technical responsibilities of this position involve designing, building, and deploying an integrated suite of operational tools to manage the capacity, performance, availability, and cost of our production services across diverse cloud environments. He or she will be accountable for developing processes and toolsets needed to support the audit/compliance needs of applications and will work to provide Tier 3 technical support for advanced troubleshooting.
Must Haves:
• 10+ years of hands-on management experience in a systems or operational field.
• Experience delivering using Agile methodologies and planning leveraging the SAFe framework.
• Proven ability to be an active and trusted collaborator and also coach, mentor, and guide more junior team members in this regard, in addition to providing technical guidance.
• Expertise in cloud technologies and services, specifically AWS.
• Willingness to research and effectively evaluate cloud tools; experience in strategic planning and ability to create coherent roadmaps for product toolsets. • Ability to manage enterprise systems environments, including installing packages and automating systems functions.
• Skills and experience with source code control systems such as Git, SVN, etc.
• Skills with Python scripting, Unix shell and Powershell; other languages are a plus.
• Strong understanding of Windows, Linux, and IP networking, including routing, DNS, firewalls, load balancers, etc.
• Solid understanding and hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Familiarity with SRE and DevSecOps methodologies.
• Ability to think horizontally (across many/all layers of the OSI technology stack) and work collaboratively to solve problems and design and implement robust solutions.
• Ability and willingness to openly and transparently communicate ideas and perform (formal and informal) knowledge transfer.
• Strong independent and collaborative problem-solving skills: example areas include the ability to research and select appropriate technologies and approaches for inclusion in the environment in a timely fashion, and the ability to rapidly understand a package, deploy it, and test it in a POC-like style
• Ability/interest to learn, adapt to, and become self-sufficient in new environments.

Location: This role calls for a commitment to spending at least three days per week at one of their main offices in Hemel Hempstead (UK). Occasional travels to other locations may be required.
