Interview tips
|
 |
Preparation is vital and at the interview
you should appear confident (without appearing over confident). You
should show a degree of enthusiasm for the position you are applying
for and also demonstrate that you have the abilities required to succeed.
You should appear to have a positive attitude and show initiative
at the interview.
Above all, you should be yourself. This should not conflict with the
above, if the job is right for you and you are right for it you, the
above characteristics will naturally be shown during the interview.
Here are a few suggestions that we hope will help you achieve success.
Your CV should be accurate and honest so that you feel confident about
discussing your CV during an interview. Always avoid being negative
about a former employer, just be matter of fact about past experiences
and put them down to experience.
Always research your potential employer and visit their web site.
This usually has accurate and useful information. It will also help
when asking questions during the interview.
Arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the interview time by planning your
journey in advance. Take a document case or similar bag with you to
the interview and dress smartly. On arriving introduce yourself to
the receptionist explaining the purpose of your visit and who you
are. Remember the receptionist may comment on you to the interviewer.
During the interview answer questions clearly. Do not be afraid to
admit you do not know the answer but try to let the interviewer know
how you would be able to obtain the correct answer. Be familiar with
the job description and try to let the interviewer know how your experience
to date can give him or her confidence that you can meet the requirements
of the job. Also address the interviewer by his or her name on occasions
throughout the interview.
At the end of the interview if you feel you have been able to act
yourself, managed to answer most questions and asked some sensible
questions then the chances are you will not only have enjoyed the
process but will also have been successful.
